About
Hi, I'm Melina and I created The Good Soul for the same reason you're probably here.
I'm a homeschooling mum of two boys, and every single day I sit with what it actually means to raise emotionally healthy children, not in theory, but at the kitchen table, on the hard days, in the middle of big feelings with nowhere to go.
I gained my CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education straight after leaving school. I then embarked on a wonderful career in fashion design for over a decade.
After having my own children, I felt a calling to return to child development and education. This is when I tied both parts together and decided to get my certification in art therapy, linking my childcare and design backgrounds together. I wanted to understand children more deeply...how they develop, how they feel, and how creativity can be one of the most powerful tools we have for emotional wellbeing.
What I didn't expect was that my own boys would become my greatest teachers.
The Good Soul grew out of a gap I couldn't find filled anywhere else.
I didn't want a behaviour chart. I didn't want a reward system. I didn't want something that made children feel like a problem to be solved. I wanted something calm — something rooted in real child development and art therapy principles, that felt beautiful enough to actually want to use, and simple enough for a tired parent at the end of a long day.
So I built it myself.
Every prompt, every card, every audio story in the toolkit has been designed with intention — and tested at home, with my own children, in real life. Not in a therapy room. At our table. On ordinary days and overwhelming ones.

A little about my background:
I hold a CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education, the same qualification held by professional nursery practitioners and early years specialists. I'm also certified in art therapy, which informs every creative tool I design. And after a decade in fashion, I bring an eye for beauty to everything I make, because I believe the resources we give children should feel inviting, not clinical.
Most importantly, I'm a homeschooling mum. Emotional regulation isn't something I studied and set aside. It's something I practise, every day, with my own children.
If you've tried the books and the advice and the "right" approaches and still feel like you're winging it — you're in the right place.
The Good Soul isn't about perfect parenting. It's about showing up, getting curious about your child's inner world, and giving them the tools to feel safe with who they are.
I'm so glad you're here.
